One-of-a-kind Sunshine Coast organic golf course swings on to the market

Australia’s only organic golf course is on the market with hopes for an urgent sale.

Ray White Commercial Noosa & Sunshine Coast North is seeking expressions of interest for Kabi Organic Golf Course and Orchard, which was developed by Billabong founder Rena Merchant.

Located 20 minutes from Noosa, the 126ha Cootharaba site includes an 18-hole golf course, an orchard of more than 1000 trees, a restaurant-events centre, a tennis court and a dam stocked with local fish.

Agent Louisa Blennerhassett says it is an opportunity to create an eco-tourism venture or even a luxury residence.

“The owner of this property had a vision to create the world’s first fully organic facility of this kind and has succeeded in bringing it to life,” Ms Blennerhassett says.

“A change in circumstances has brought this property to the market for urgent sale.”

An original timber home relocated from the Noosa River has been renovated as a bar and entertaining area overlooking the property and golf course.

“Add some glamping tents and you have a one-of-a kind events destination,” she says.

The golf course has been closed to the public for several years but the whole property is maintained with accreditation through Australian Certified Organic and Biological Farmers Association.

Kabi comprises three lots over three titles. It is 10 minutes to Boreen Point and Noosa Everglades, 25 minutes to Bruce Highway and 45 minutes to Sunshine Coast Airport.

“Land for wildlife has been set aside for the conservation of local flora and fauna,” Ms Blennerhassett says.

“There is also irrigation infrastructure to the whole property including pumps, dams and reticulation for the golf course operation.”

Also on the property is a complete back-of-house operation including packing shed, caretaker’s quarters, machinery workshop and wash-down area, along with all plant and equipment.

Expressions of interest in 48-59 Kabi Road and 501 Lake Flat Road are sought until the close of business on Friday July 6, 2018.
