Sunshine Coast’s New Planning Scheme: What It Means For Commercial Property
The team at RWC Noosa & Sunshine Coast takes a look at the region’s proposed new planning scheme and its implications for the commercial property sector.
Commercial property consultant Alicia Pregnell is on a mission to help Sunshine Coast business owners grow and succeed. The former hospitality industry professional has quickly made her mark in commercial real estate, rising through the ranks due to her drive, adaptability and people skills.
Alicia joined the RWC Noosa & Sunshine Coast team in 2022, after owning and operating food and beverage businesses, including restaurants and bars, for more than a decade. With extensive local connections, international hospitality experience and a sharp eye for opportunity, Alicia brings a fresh yet commercially astute perspective to the Sunshine Coast commercial property sector.
“My uncle owned a restaurant, so hospitality was in my blood from the start. I worked between here and London in restaurants, bars and nightclubs, then my brother and I opened Corbin’s Kitchen & Wine Bar in Maroochydore. We built that business over seven years. I’d always been fascinated by commercial property and business sales and love being in the community meeting people. So when the opportunity came to join the RWC team as a PA, it felt like the perfect next step,” Alicia said.
After that first role with RWC as a personal assistant, Alicia progressed to sales associate and officially stepped into her current role as a commercial property consultant early this year. She now works alongside Tallon Parmenter to strengthen RWC’s presence from Coolum to Birtinya and surrounding areas.
“I’ve always been curious about every part of real estate – not just my own role. I’ll listen to content on property management, operations or building high-performing teams, anything that can help us adapt and improve as a business. Staying up-to-date on the industry gives me an edge,” Alicia explains.
No two days are the same for Alicia, with her diverse role covering all aspects of sales and leasing, from appraisals and inspections to business development. She currently handles the majority of the RWC Maroochydore office’s leasing activity while balancing sales and client relationship management.
“I think my biggest strength is networking. I’ve always been good at connecting with people and keeping in touch,” Alicia said. “Many of my clients today are people I first met through the restaurant industry – those relationships have grown and evolved over time. I pride myself on nurturing relationships and keeping strong connections with our pipeline of clients.”
Born in Tasmania and raised on the Sunshine Coast, Alicia is now a busy mum of two young children. She still enjoys the coastal lifestyle she grew up with.
“Mudjimba Beach will always be special to me. I grew up going there and love taking the kids down to the beach to play. I also enjoy heading up to the Mapleton and Montville area, especially Mary Cairncross Park. It’s such a beautiful part of the region.”
When it comes to business on the Sunshine Coast, Alicia sees a community buzzing with opportunity.
“The Coast is constantly growing and there’s so much creativity here. People are doing amazing, diverse things and that energy flows into the commercial property market. It’s rewarding to help local businesses find the right space to grow and to be part of projects that strengthen and shape our community,” Alicia said.
